Surviving the Wild Ride from MCO to Pop Century: A Family’s Tale of Adventure and Chaos

Mark || Friday, February 21, 2025

As we stepped off the plane at Orlando International Airport (MCO), our family of four was ready to kick off our Disney World adventure. Mom, Dad, and our two tiny tornados, ages 4 and 2, were geared up for a fun-filled vacation at Pop Century. But first, we had to navigate the airport, baggage claim, rental car chaos, and a 20-minute drive to our destination.

The Airport Obstacle Course

We emerged from the plane, bleary-eyed and caffeine-dependent, only to be greeted by the daunting task of navigating the airport with two tiny humans in tow. We dodged and weaved through the crowds, our double stroller expertly maneuvering through the throngs of people.

Baggage Claim: Where Patience Goes to Die

Next up, we arrived at baggage claim, where we waited… and waited… and waited some more for our luggage to appear. Our 2-year-old, sensing our frustration, decided to stage an impromptu dance party on top of the baggage carousel, much to the amusement of our fellow travelers.

Rental Car Roulette

With our luggage finally in hand, we made our way to the rental car counter, where we played a thrilling game of “Rental Car Roulette.” Would we get a car with enough space for our mountain of luggage? Would it have enough cup holders for our coffee-fueled road trip? The suspense was killing us!

The Great Disney World Road Trip

Finally, with our trusty rental car loaded up, we hit the road, bound for Pop Century. Our 4-year-old, armed with her trusty “Disney World Road Trip Bingo” card, kept us entertained as we navigated the highway. Meanwhile, our 2-year-old, fueled by Goldfish crackers and Disney music, kept the backseat party going.

We Made It! (Sort Of)

After what felt like an eternity, we pulled into the Pop Century parking lot, exhausted but exhilarated. We had survived the airport, baggage claim, rental car chaos, and the drive. Now, all that was left was to check-in, drop off our bags, and hit the parks for some well-deserved Disney magic.

And that, folks, is the story of how our family of four survived the wild ride from MCO to Pop Century. Stay tuned for our next installment, where we’ll regale you with tales of our Disney World adventures!”
